About Zlatina Karcheva

Zlatina D. Karcheva was born in 1974 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

 

Education

Zlatina’s early art training was in the studios of practicing artists, where she received training in drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics. She studied at the Art Lyceum St. Luka in Sofia (1989–1993) and at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia (1994–1999). In 2001–2002 she studied Greek Culture and Language at the National and Capodistrian University of Athens, Greece (Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών).

Prize for drawing – 1996, General Academic Competition dedicated to “100 years of the National Academy of Fine Arts”

 

Publications

In 2006 under the auspices of the Monastery of Ruen “St John of Rila” (Bulgaria) she published a ‘learn to draw’ book on the Byzantine Icons (Византийски икони. Практическо ръководство за изписване, София: Лик, 2006). She published also a translation of fragments and commentary of an 18th century Greek book: Hieromonk Dionysius’ “Explanation of the iconographic art”, in periodical Mirna, 24 (2005), pp. 24-39.

1996-2012 takes part in 22 group exhibitions in Sofia.

2002 solo exhibition at the Archeological Museum and Gallery of Anhialus (Pomorie), Bulgaria.

2013 solo exhibition at the Gallery “Ikar” in Sofia, Bulgaria.
